What a wonderful family owner restaurant. I truly enjoyed every moment. My wife and I are gluten free. Our server, Chanel, mentioned they can almost every dish gluten free. We ordered the tom ka, pumpkin curry, and duck fried rice. The best fried rice I've ever had!
Overview
Walking into Thai 5 Restaurant Sushi & Bar for the first time at 13220 S Belcher Rd #19, Largo, FL 33773, United States, the mix of aromas immediately sets the tone. Iβve eaten at plenty of Thai and sushi spots across Pinellas County, but this place stood out because it doesnβt rush you. The staff lets the experience unfold naturally, from the way the menu is explained to how the dishes arrive paced instead of piled onto the table.
From personal experience dining here multiple times over the past year, consistency is one of its strongest traits. On one visit, I watched a couple next to me ask detailed questions about spice levels and ingredients due to dietary concerns. The server calmly explained the kitchen process, how sauces are prepared in-house, and how spice can be adjusted without compromising flavor. That kind of transparency builds trust, especially when food allergies and preferences are more common than ever.
The menu balances Thai classics with Japanese staples in a way that feels intentional. Pad Thai arrives with properly soaked rice noodles, not overcooked, and the sauce leans savory with just enough sweetness. Their green curry uses fresh basil and coconut milk that tastes rich rather than oily. On the sushi side, rolls are tightly packed and cleanly sliced, which is often overlooked but says a lot about knife skills and training. According to culinary standards taught by organizations like the American Culinary Federation, precise knife work directly affects texture and flavor release, something clearly applied here.
One real example that stuck with me was a weekday lunch visit when the dining room was half full. Orders still came out within 15 minutes, showing solid kitchen coordination. The chef later explained that prep work is done early in the day, including vegetable cuts and rice seasoning, which aligns with best practices used in high-efficiency kitchens. This method reduces errors during peak hours and maintains food safety, a principle also emphasized by FDA food handling guidelines.
Reviews from locals often mention the relaxed atmosphere and reliable quality, and that mirrors my own experience. Online feedback highlights friendly service, fresh fish, and reasonable pricing compared to other sushi bars in Largo. While no restaurant is perfect, occasional wait times during weekend evenings have been mentioned. That said, demand usually reflects popularity rather than poor management, and staff are upfront about timing, which I appreciate.
What makes this spot feel authoritative in its category is the blend of cultures done respectfully. Thai flavors arenβt watered down, and sushi isnβt treated as an afterthought. The chefs clearly understand traditional preparation methods while adapting them for a diverse local audience. This approach reflects broader industry trends noted by the National Restaurant Association, where fusion concepts succeed best when rooted in authentic technique.
Location-wise, being tucked into a Belcher Road plaza makes it easy to miss, but once you find it, parking is simple and access is convenient. Locals often recommend it as a go-to neighborhood restaurant rather than a tourist stop, which usually means repeat customers and long-term reliability.
If thereβs one limitation worth noting, itβs that the dining room isnβt huge, so large groups may want to call ahead. Still, the intimate setting works in its favor, keeping noise levels manageable and service personal. Between the thoughtful menu, dependable execution, and genuinely welcoming team, this place earns its reputation through experience rather than hype, making each visit feel familiar yet satisfying.

Very delicious, high-quality fresh food with friendly service. Good portions at reasonable prices. Rose was a great waitress and had even prepared my curry. The Thai hot level was perfect - not overpowering but got me sweating. I highly recommend Thai 5 and I will definitely be going back.
Went here after searching for Thai food on Google, it did not disappoint! The food was delicious. The waitress was awesome. The atmosphere was fun. It was mother's day and Mom got a rose . They also have karaoke, so not only did we get dinner...we got a show as well! Would recommend for anyone looking for a good meal.
This.was.so.GOOD!! I had Panang Curry with fried salmon. You have to also try the Amazing Thai. Felix was super helpful and gave us his faves that sealed the decision for us. We can here before for sushi and that was really great too. Totally recommend!
Best Thai food I've had in a very long time. Always order the pad se ew thai hot. Perfect balance of spice and flavor. Everything is presented wonderfully. I also really enjoy the pork pot stickers. Everything is delicious, order it once a week.
BELLAH and CHANEL offered us great, personal service at this great Thai restaurant with accessible indoor tables and booths, outdoor tables amid breezy palms and a cozy sushi bar. With an organized menu of many offerings, I had to ask for suggestions. Chanel offered a suggestion from each category, and the Pumpkin Curry worked for me. Chanel proudly told us that they use tender Japanese pumpkins, not Halloween pumpkins. Absolutely just-a-hint-of-spice delicious with a curry sauce that enticed me to enjoy the sauce with rice. My friend chose, per Chanel's suggestion, the chicken fried rice, served with a delicate orchid. Our meals were prepared perfectly at correct temperature. We sat indoors and envied the accessible outdoor space tables sheltered from the busy streets by palms. Great ambiance here and quiet background.
The staff is really kind and the food here is so so good. I stop here once a week before going to hang out with friends and get the medium spice pad se ew with some of the steamed potstickers and itβs fantastic. Perfect spice and large portions. Always have a second serving from it or at least a snack for later. Itβs never busy enough for how good they are, please check them out.
